I found happiness in the Solitude

vocation_belemEver since I was very small, around five or six years old, I sought solitude without being aware of it. From time to time, I hid in the “woodshed” near the house and I stayed there for hours and hours. When I came out from there, people asked me what I did there. My answer was always the same: Nothing!

During adolescence, I insisted every Sunday on seeking in which parish the Blessed Sacrament was exposed, as was the habit at the time, in order to go there to pay a visit.

So when I arrived at the Grandbourg Solitude in 1950, after twelve years of a very active life in Sion in Sao Paulo, I found what I had always desired in my heart of hearts: solitude and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Now, at 97 years of age, I can do nothing but testify to the fact that I found happiness in my life.
